10 Benefits of Taking Yourself on a Retreat

There are so many retreats available to us these days - from yoga, to wellness, to meditation, to detoxing, to surfing, to golfing, to silent retreats and everything in between.

With health and wellness becoming more of a priority and a necessity as the world continues to demand more from us.

By choosing to take the time and give yourself the opportunity to go on retreat, the benefits you’ll feel are almost endless and are of huge value to your mental and physical health!

But here, I’ve listed what I believe to be the top 10 benefits of going on retreat.

(okay I think I wrote 11 but hey ho, I'm learning to be less of a perfectionist - so have 11!)

- Time away from the usual busyness to calm, center and connect to you.

- To remember the forgotten parts of you that often get squashed down in the seriousness, the hustle and the responsibilities of day to day life.

- To connect to like-minded people and feel part of a community who often becomes friends for life and a great support network for life beyond time on retreat together.

- To explore and experience something completely new

– Connecting to new people, in a new place, not fully knowing what the agenda is for the retreat, taking this step out side of your comfort zone will allow you to grow as a person.

- A retreat will offer you the chance to gain a new perspective on life and begin creating new habits for yourself and a new belief system to support you through the next phase, whatever that may be.

- Giving yourself the chance to withdraw from all the usual stress, allows your body both physically and emotionally rest, recover and rejuvenate.

- A chance to nurture yourself and be nurtured – often it’s something we crave but don’t give ourselves. A retreat will nurture all of you, right from the practical things being taken care of (no cooking, no cleaning, no thinking about any menial day to

day tasks) to also nurturing the heart of you. Allowing old wounds to heal and love to return.

- A retreat will allow you to just be - in the modern world there is so much pressure to do do do all the time, that often we forget to just let ourselves be. A retreat

is the perfect place to just; be.

- To rediscover the things you love and to once again find and feel what it is that makes you come alive.

- Head home with a new appreciation for the things you do have in life,

for the people around you, for your home and for your friends, network and community

.

If you haven't given yourself permission yet to take time out and go on retreat, what are you waiting for?

Find a retreat that feels right for you, and hit the big fat book button - you deserve it!
